I've tried FLAC in 5.1 originally ripped from PCM 5.1
When you choose the option HDMI multi channel it works perfectly! I was able to cut down my lossless from (PCM) 4.79 G to (FLAC) 1.31 G. I did that with Mediacoder and then mux it back with MKV merge.
As for stereo FLAC it as never been an issue to play them at all

I have the Patriot Player and for I cannot get it to play ANY type of FLAC file. It clearly states taht the Patriot can play these files - I have of course updated firmware. I have FLACS from a number of different ripping applications so it would seem implausible that it is a problem with the encoding. I am pretty irritated by this as my music library has been totally converted to FLAC (ripped from CD's mainly). Can anyone help?

I double checked on the patriot website, and it states that the Patriot Media Player supports the .mkv file format. I would contact their customer service or check the forums to see if others are having similar problems. One quick solution might be to check the sound output setting on the Patriot. Sometimes these things are as easy as selecting the right sound output.

I could be mistaken, but I think what you are asking is if the Patriot media player will play music files that are stored on an Apple computer (Mac)? I believe iTunes and Apple computers store files in the .mp3 and mpeg-4 format. So if I am understanding your question, then, yes, the PBO will play music files from a Mac.

Thanks Tripp,

Wow the Xtreamer looks pretty impressive. Just started reading up on it, I hope it will work with the 360. I love how it has Google Movie Jukebox. Thanks again

I love this unit. Just got it on the weekend from Canada Computers and was impressed with how easy it is to use. I've got an external 2TB Phantom drive on it with around 1000 movies. I have a Sony HD video camera and found that the unprocessed Sony HD video also plays without a hitch. Fantastic video quality when plugged into the TV via the HDMI cable that came in with it. Highly recommend this unit. Now I'm just waiting for the 1TB 2.5" drives to come down cheaper and I'll plug one of those into it.

My main purpose for buying this unit was that we spend a lot of time on the road in hotels and wanted to havbe better quality movies to watch other than that which is .mp4 from my IPod.
